In an industry with a centuries-old history of questionable practices, we at White Diamonds International take great pride in our high standards for ethical conduct and quality workmanship. Our vision is to educate the public about diamonds and expose the myths and abuses that are so prevalent today.

Enhanced Diamonds

Industry Practice
Many diamond retailers offer diamonds that have been artificially enhanced with various laboratory processes or color coatings. A common industry scam is to advertise natural diamonds which have been artificially colored as fancy colored diamonds. The various trade organizations created to regulate industry integrity do not enforce policies which are suppose to protect consumers. Many retailers believe that it is the consumers responsibility to know whether they are purchasing a natural fancy color diamond or a natural diamond that has been colored.

Our Position
Every diamond is a unique product of nature, billions of years in the making. There is beauty in every color, shade, hue, depth, and texture of the diamond. We believe that the only legitimate way to reveal a diamonds natural beauty is through the art of diamond cutting. It is our position that any diamond artificially color or clarity enhanced becomes a fake diamond.

Our Policy
White Diamonds International does not advertise, promote, or sell any diamonds that have been artificially colored or enhanced in any way. We provide only well cut and properly proportioned diamonds for a lifetime of beauty and enjoyment.

Rarest Diamonds

Industry Practice
The diamond industry promotes colorless diamonds, claiming that they are the rarest gems on earth.

Our Position
Colorless diamonds are geologically quite plentiful. There is great beauty in a colorless diamond, but there are many natural fancy colored stones that are also just as beautiful and most of them are actually rare. Prices vary in direct proportion to rarity, so some colored diamonds are outside the budget of most diamond consumers. But many natural colored diamonds are available for those who desire a stone that is unique and memorable.

Our Policy
White Diamonds International specializes in manufacturing fancy stones of any color. We help our customers understand the true value behind any stone they consider purchasing. Customers are not pushed to buy a diamond based on our bottom line but on the individual preferences of the customer.

cutting methods

Industry Practice
The diamond industry has been marred by a practice of recruiting unskilled, underage workers in poor countries around the world where wages are lowest. They set up cutting shops to manufacture machine-cut stones for mass distribution.

Our Position
Since every diamond is unique, it is the job of a skilled artisan to discover and uncover the beauty of each stone. Only a trained, experienced craftsman can analyze the characteristics of the rough stone and determine how it should be cut for maximum brilliance and sparkle.

Our Policy
White Diamonds International diamond cutters are expertly-trained, highly-skilled, experienced diamond craftsman. They take no shortcuts in their craft and deliver some of the most beautiful stones available in the industry.

Conflict Diamonds

Industry Practice
Because of their high intrinsic value, diamond mining has led to wars and bloodshed in parts of the world where diamonds are found naturally. The diamond industry has a shameful history of purchasing diamonds through hidden channels in order to avoid the taint of selling conflict diamonds. Many diamond sellers claim that all of their stones carry a Kimberly Process Certification (KPC) indicating that they are conflict free. Virtually none of them will back it up by showing proof.

Our Position
Fair Trade Diamonds: We believe that the citizens of countries that mine diamonds (some of the poorest countries on earth) should share the benefits and wealth generated by the global demand for their natural resource. The diamond industry should deal fairly and openly with these underdeveloped countries and completely avoid any stones that are available as the result of violent conflicts.

Our Policy
All diamonds manufactured and sold by White Diamonds International are alluvial diamonds and are guaranteed conflict-free. White Diamonds International purchases all of its rough directly from mining artisans. We do not manufacture any commercially mined diamonds. We are open and transparent in our dealings with the miners that we buy from by letting them know the true value of their rough diamonds. We can and will show you the Kimberly Process Certification (KPC) for any stone we offer for sale. In most cases, we can trace a stone all the way back to an individual artisan. To our knowledge, we are the only retailer in the world who does this.

Ethical Conduct

Industry Practice
The diamond industry has consistently disseminated propaganda about diamonds in order to promote sales and obscure the truth about the value of diamonds. In addition, wealthy cartels have hoarded rough diamonds in their efforts to keep prices high on the open market. The KPC system, supposedly developed to prevent the sale of conflict diamonds, also had the effect of favoring diamonds commercially mined by large producers over alluvial diamonds found by indigenous artisan diggers in poor African countries.

Our Position
The diamond industry should be exposed to the light of truth. Dealings should be fair and transparent to all involved, including artisianal miners. The industry should benefit those at the beginning and end of the chain-the alluvial miner and the consumer-and not just the wealthy mining CEO's and middlemen.

Our Policy
White Diamonds International enjoys a reputation in the industry unlike any other diamond manufacturer. We speak the truth about what we know about the industry and treat our suppliers and customers alike fairly and ethically.
